PSP: Vehicles hit woman on I81
Pennsylvania State Police believe several vehicles hit a 31-year-old woman who was on Interstate 81 on foot in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County early Saturday morning.
Police found the body of Sarah Elizabeth Cook, York, at 3:09 a.m. on the Interstate in the northbound area of Exit 69. They were investigating a report of a person standing near the highway near the Progress Avenue exit.
“It is possible that driver(s) of the striking vehicles may not have known they hit her,” Trooper Megan Ammerman said. “We are asking the public for any information (dash camera footage, eye witness accounts… anything).”
Troopers arriving on the scene found Cook’s body on the road, but there were no vehicles around. Police believe motorists might not have seen Cook’s body, or been aware they hit her.
An investigation into Cook’s death continues.
