Wilson’s Phoenix volleyball team defeated the Patriots of the University of Valley Forge in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) home game last night.
The Phoenix (6-11, 5-2 CSAC) pounded the Patriots (1-13, 0-9 CSAC) by a score of three sets to none, with set scores of 25-12, 25-16, and 25-14.
How It Happened
In the first set, both teams kept things close and tied the score at 4-4. This sparked a 6-0 run from Wilson that pushed them in front, 10-4. Valley Forge dug deep and started a run of their own, cutting their deficit to just one point, 12-11. The Phoenix closed things out on a 13-1 run that gave them the set, 25-12.
In the second set, Wilson picked up right where they left off, scoring the first four points of the set. The two teams battled back and forth but the Phoenix walked away with the win, 25-16.
Starting off the third and final set, Wilson started an 8-4 run that extended their lead to 11-4. The Phoenix looked dominant throughout the set, eventually taking the set 25-13, giving them the victory, three sets to none.

Wilson tallied 29 kills on 63 attempts with 10 errors while holding their opponent to 16 kills on 46 attempts against 16 errors. Senior Tia Jones (Springfield, VA., Lake Braddock) paced the offense with 12 kills, while junior Anika Eigen-Zucchi (Washington, D.C., St. Johns College High School) tallied eight, and Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) totaled four. The Phoenix also recorded 13 aces in the match.
Wilson’s Phoenix women’s volleyball team will host the Giants of Keystone College (1-17, 0-5 CSAC) at 6 tonight.
